A Case of Joni

the early songs of Joni Mitchell

Discover the Programme

Where longing lives forever.

Gina Fergione and Gabriel Keen both studied music at Dartington College of Arts before going on to pursue many and varied musical activities, from early music, choral and opera to rock, jazz, contemporary classical, and free improvisation. In 2019 they recorded a CD of French songs.

That project was put on hold by the lockdown of 2020, but in that time they had the idea of performing the whole of Joni Mitchell's album Blue to celebrate its 50th anniversary in June 2021. Since then they have expanded their repertoire considerably, drawing on Joni's output across ten albums from 1968 to 1979, and have extended the sonic palette to get closer to the flavour of the originals by incorporating guitar and Appalachian dulcimer.
